Vertigo

How to play U2′s Vertigo – the main riff

This is a great power song from U2. And, it’s really fun to play! In this lesson, I take you through the main riff which is played at various stages throughout the song.

If you want to become a BandJammer Member, then just click on the $1 image on the left to find out more.

Anyway to help you along with this lesson, I’ve provide the following:

  1. Firstly, the video of the whole band playing the song, so you can get an overall feel for the rhythm, timing and style.
  2. Secondly, the teaching video for the main riff.
  3. And finally, there’s the practice video featuring just the Drums and Bass.

So, have fun! Regards, Andy.

    Andy,
Great lesson! I only wish you could post the Edge’s distinctive solo’s for the piece but I can probably figure them out with the video. Keep up the great work.

Hi Andy, thank you very much for sending me these videos. I think that they are great, but not for me yet. My speed of guitar playing is not quite that advanced, as I only know the basic cords, I have a very hard time doing bar cords. I don’t know, but maybe my hands are just to small. But I do keep trying. I love music, and I will always try to learn as
much as I can. I think that you are a really good teacher, and I hope that you would be able to send videos that have the basic cords some day. Keep on rock’in , Donna.

Great! That easy, eh? Very clear visual and appreciate structure of full song; bass and guitar; guitar parts. Trying to master Django and Gabor Szabo gypsy-jazz myself and look forward to anything that helps!

Today we're looking at Power Chords and the classic JJ Cale song Cocaine. Although this is very much more in the style of the Eric Clapton version.

Sad news................"The Father of Loud" Jim Marshall, the founder of Marshall amps, died today aged 88. Slash tweeted "The news of Jim Marshall passing is deeply saddening. R & R will never be the same w/out him. But, his amps will live on FOREVER!"

I say, set up yer stack and rock heaven 'till it shakes.

That man defined the heavy rock guitar sound.

Yes it's happy birthday to Johann Sebastian Bach...born in 1685. Did he influence any great rock guitarists????
