Status Quo Riff

Finally Riff 5. This is from the song Rain by Status Quo. The riff actually comes in probably half way through the song. This riff is a great way to develop not only your hammer-ons, but also your pull-offs. I’ll also show you a way that you can playing this a little easier. Once you’ve cracked this then you’ll be ready for our practice session together!

So here it is! Let me know what you think by leaving me a comment at the bottom of the page.

And if you enjoy this, then i’m sure you’ll love everything we’ve got in the Membership site. For more details on this, just click the button on the image below. Thanks, and I’ll be posting the next lesson very soon. Andy.

Warmup Riffs Number 5:

Warmup Riffs: Practice Session 1

In this first practice session we’ll be playing down the bottom of the neck.

Warmup Riffs: Practice Session 2

And now let’s give it a go higher up the neck the neck.

The next tutorial video will be out tomorrow. Let me know what you think by leaving me a comment at the bottom of the page.

Been finding myself coming back here more and more for the free stuff, for which I thank you, I haven’t yet tried playing along to the full band but as my confidence in my electric playing gets better I will do, The only thing I find frustrating is that I have to spend time writting out the lessons here in tab for when I’m not near the PC, which as that is down stairs and my electric guitar and amp (and headphones) are upstairs, I know!
Anyway thanks for this and all the stuff you give away from free it really helps, and I’m pretty sure I will be making some sort of purchase come pay day! (just don’t tell the wife !)

Today we're looking at Power Chords and the classic JJ Cale song Cocaine. Although this is very much more in the style of the Eric Clapton version.

Sad news................"The Father of Loud" Jim Marshall, the founder of Marshall amps, died today aged 88. Slash tweeted "The news of Jim Marshall passing is deeply saddening. R & R will never be the same w/out him. But, his amps will live on FOREVER!"

I say, set up yer stack and rock heaven 'till it shakes.

That man defined the heavy rock guitar sound.

Yes it's happy birthday to Johann Sebastian Bach...born in 1685. Did he influence any great rock guitarists????
