Snow Patrol Riff

How to play the main riff for Run by Snow Patrol

This is a lovely moody and melodic song, with a simple structure and chords, and a number of lead Riffs and a Solo. We have set out the teaching videos for this song differently to other songs, due to it’s simple structure. Each section of the song has both a teaching video, and a practice video.

So, below you will find the following videos to help you master this very distinctive riff:

  1. The full band playing the song
  2. The teaching video for the riff
  3. A practice video for the riff

Have, fun, and please do leave a comment below. Regards Andy

Great work my friend, i have not managed to view the whole lot yet but what i have seen is clear and easy to follow.
I too would like to see something really riffy and power chordy like ac dc, judas priest, chicken foot, tom petty( running down the years, or the one about mary jane its brilliant even though it sounds like bob dylan singing!).

Hi guys, i never heard this song before. I am going to look up the lerics to see more what it was about. I really ejoyed it. i could imagine putting some delay or something on your solo near the end to mix with the feel of the song. Thanks for all you are doing!!

It is a nice illustration but I would like to see more Led Zeppelin type stuff.
Also where are the intro lead notes part? I can figure it by ear but the song is not complete without it.

    Hi Andy
Great riff and one I will practice
I love Shadows type music and love the fender sound as I believe your guitar is on this riff
I am new and trying to learn chords without lessons as yet having picked up a chord diagram book to work through I apprecitae to improve I need some lessons which I am trying to get of the cigars and promote better health with saving up for a fender and surprising how much you can save if giving up the draded smoking and as a paramedic should know better
Great site as it helps me to understand some of my basic studies so keep up the great work and I will endevour to improve and cut out the smoking
    regards
    Tom

Music was okay, but the out-of-focus dissolves were a little much. Looks like your shooting with one camera and a doing multi-takes. One shot, in particular, showing the drummer appeared to have the video and the audio out of sync a bit. I don’t mean to sound like I’m knocking the video, it’s just that I taught video production for several years. There’s a lot of potential there. I would stick with more rock-solid shots if it were me.

You Cats are so damn tight, I must believe you are all professional muscians either with Bandjammer as your band & you must all be asked to do studio work as well. Do you guys have any of your own songs we could hear & download?

I never heard the song before today. But I think it’s a real nice change of pace. Down-tempo with nice chord changes and interesting lead riffs. Good choice to add to the repertoire!

Today we're looking at Power Chords and the classic JJ Cale song Cocaine. Although this is very much more in the style of the Eric Clapton version.

Sad news................"The Father of Loud" Jim Marshall, the founder of Marshall amps, died today aged 88. Slash tweeted "The news of Jim Marshall passing is deeply saddening. R & R will never be the same w/out him. But, his amps will live on FOREVER!"

I say, set up yer stack and rock heaven 'till it shakes.

That man defined the heavy rock guitar sound.

Yes it's happy birthday to Johann Sebastian Bach...born in 1685. Did he influence any great rock guitarists????
