Very good sampling of the most common problems in learning how to play guitar. I’m sure the best method to learn is the no-chords-no-scales-learn-by-playing-and-have-fun-in-the-process.

We all need help, no matter how good we think we are, even a good player can learn something new from someone who has not been playing that long, and god knows I need all the tips I can get, bandjammer is good for me!

Learning guitar is like learning golf, it takes physical co-ordination and determination to suceed, but at the same time tension should be minimised as that leads to problems. Andy I just love your lessons, I like your down to earth approach and the occasional mistake proves you are human! I have looked at a number of online courses and some of the presenters are just show offs, I can’t learn from a show off, I learn from good honest and practical education which is what you give. The Jam along sessions are great, as I at the late age of 57, have picked up guitar again after 30 years and am only in it for hving fun!

They say that playing guitar is so easy to learn… That is not true! To learn play guitar takes the whole lifetime!

At age 55 it has been confirmed by watching your videos that all I needed to play guitar was T U I T I O N of the right sort ,practice without fail ,enjoy practice ,it is fun now, unlike my three piano lessons age six ,I got bored on the first ,refused to play a note on the second and ran out the music teachers house on the third….no you tube in 1960 but we did have Hank Marvins strat and his echo

    Hi Andy,
I really like the video tutorials because of that fully little guy who bounces around, full of enthusiasm and excitement for what he’s doing ;-)
The lessons are straight-forward and easy to follow and concentrate on getting the feel for the song across, rather than note-perfect transcriptions of popular songs. I’ve already recommended BandJammer to a few people and continue to do so!

Hi Padraig, thanks for your comments. We do already provide all the tab for songs, detailing all the riffs and solos, and we will shortly be starting work on the Riffs tab.

With the songs we are also starting to provide Guitar Pro files as which will give you detailed animated tab.

With regards to navigating between the song lessons, we have noted your comment and are currently working on this. Thanks again and good to hear from you. Regards Andy

    Andy,

I’ve been on board since the beginning, and though I don’t use it very often, I intend to and consider it good value compared to many other lesson.

Your way of breaking down the songs is very instructive and makes it easy (sometimes too easy) to pick things up.

My complaints? A lack of tab, but I know this is costly and time consuming to reproduce, not to mention issues of copyright.

My other complaint is one I have raised before. When in a song, I have to back out of a section in order to access the next section. Really, there should be a ‘to next lesson’ style of button or link as well as back on each lesson page.

Otherwise, it’s a pretty good system. I don’t understand the recent offers you had as I though I was getting this content, anyway.

    Catch you later.

Andy, I think your site is fantastic and I especially like the upgrades made to it awhile back. The concept of your site is truly great — getting practice jamming with a real band! I can’t think of a better way to learn guitar when you combine it with the step-by-step lessons you teach for each song, breaking it all down into managable-to-learn riffs. I hope this helps — as a Pro-Member, I look forward to many more fun times and jam sessions with “The Band.” Cheers…Lisa (aka Artex)

    Hi Andy
I have been a member from day one. I agree with all the other positive comments. Your site is clear, concise. Your approach is friendly, your band strong and professional. Your methods simple and easy for an amateur like myself to follow. I am miles ahead of where I would have been without your tuition.
Keep up the hard work. It will be worth it in the long run….Mark

I had a little rough start in the beginning but everything was taken care of and i really enjoy the whole thing. I had to quit playing for some years and this has made it so much easier to get back to the joy of playing guitar and playing with a band again! I am an older guy and its nice to jam with some people around my age. So thank you and you have a true fan with Me! Michael Witfoth

Hi there Andy. Thanks for the special one off payment option on this. The videos are great at helping me nail some of the classic riffs I’ve only ever “nearly got” in the past! I’d love it if you made these available on DVD however as my internet connection is rather slow for video….
Let me know if you ever transfer them to DVD!
    All the best.

Without a shadow of a doubt you have nailed what was required. The site is detailed enough without getting bogged down in technicalities whilst keeping us entertained and interested. As a bass player with a passing interest in 6 strings it’s great fun. I’ve been in my current band for around 7 years and your setlist is very similar to ours – anyone wanting to make the transition into a band could do no better that learning the songs you have presented.
I would really like to see a forum to encourage and even bully the stay-at-home guitarists to get out there and join or form bands. It’s hard to get good guitarists and we know they’re out there, hiding! Your site gives a perfectly workable template to start a band with. Believe me. ANYONE can do it!
    Good job Andy!

    Hi Andy

It was great to bump into you at the Farnham Beer Festival last night. Thanks for taking the time out to have a chat. I love the website and the instruction videos. As a beginner I have been able to quickly learn a few riffs that my friends recognise. I am confident that as my ability improves the site would enable me to progress to turning out the guitar part for a full song. The clarity of instruction is so much better than struggling with tabs. The way the song structures are broken down makes the learning in the limited time I have easy to dip in and out of as time allows. Keep it going and wish you guys every success with the site.

    Regards

    Marcus

    Hi Andy,
nice lessons, very explanatory, revived a few oldies riffs for me.
excellent display layout, extremely clear resolution, good narrating and awesome lessons..will definitely be considering purchasing some of your similar videos, I’m probably beginner to amateur, but they have been very helpful and at the end of the day I’m not planning on playing in a band, I just want people to at least recognize what I’m playing without me having to telling them what it’s supposed to sound like.

keep working on those videos, I’ll be in touch in a few weeks or so.
    regards
    Big Col from New Zealand

I wish I had found you years ago. I have spent a small fortune on tutors, but you seem to get your point over so easily and the videos with close-ups are a boon. Thanks for all your hard work in preparing this course and everything else you do to help us budding guitarists.

    Hi Andy,
I was more on guitar rythmn, I’d like accompanying those amateur singers and I sing myself too. When I arrived here in the U.S. where
I had my first computer I stumbled to your site and stayed and watch.
I noticed your desire to reach us if we’ve learned something from you and teaching the right way. I learned a lot especially your Samba Ti, almost, always mastered.
You’re such a very, very, good teacher, no hocus-pocus attitude. I had your site recommended to friends. Keep on rocking the internet.

Hi, really enjoy all of your videos, even though I will probably never play the songs with my current band, and that brings me to a question. Being 65 years old and still giging regularly, I would very much like to see a few Rockabilly songs given the Andy treatment. There are a huge number of baby-boomers in Australia who like to dance (mainly jive) and its the 50s/60s music that appeals to them and as I love playing in my band especially to an appreciative crowd, this is the music I would like to see featured. Any chance? Regards and keep up the great lessons, Mike

Sad news................"The Father of Loud" Jim Marshall, the founder of Marshall amps, died today aged 88. Slash tweeted "The news of Jim Marshall passing is deeply saddening. R & R will never be the same w/out him. But, his amps will live on FOREVER!"

I say, set up yer stack and rock heaven 'till it shakes.

That man defined the heavy rock guitar sound.

Yes it's happy birthday to Johann Sebastian Bach...born in 1685. Did he influence any great rock guitarists????
