Shakin All Over – WarmUp Routine

OK let’s get stuck into the first Riff of your practice routine. This comes from Shakin All Over by Johhny Kidd and The Pirates. This is one where you can practice and refine your palm muting. You don’t have to palm mute it and you can vary the amount you use, but it’s a good technique and creates some contrast and variation when played along with the other Riffs.

So here it is! Let me know what you think by leaving me a comment at the bottom of the page.

And if you enjoy this, then i’m sure you’ll love everything we’ve got in the Membership site. For more details on this, just click the button on the image below. Thanks, and I’ll be posting the first tuition lesson tomorrow. Andy.

    Hi there,
Don’t get cold fingers in Brisvegas. Johnny Kidd and the Pirates ” I’ll never get over you” was the first song my band played in the sixties. It was at a club in Blackpool, and the singer sang in a different key to what we were playing in. We pretended everything was OK and finished the song. How embarrasing!. Our next song was much better “Glad all over ” Dave clarke Five. I really like the website and what you are doing.Breaks everything down and makes it simple.Plus gives you encouragement to keep going. Started playing electric about a year ago. Bought a les paul copy out of China $350 delivered with a hard case. These are great guitars for the money. Back to the website. It is great and has made me start playing again. Probably your oldest student, 64 yrs young.

G’day, G’day Andy, fireworks last night for Australia Day. A great little warm up, do you know that I still have my 45 of this that I bought as a young person when it came out in the UK and I reckon the whole song still sounds as good today when I play it with our band (No alterations or “Jazz” allowed) when playing the Holy Grail music of the 50′s and 60′s.
    Looking forward to more.

This was a favourite song ,expertly played by the much missed Mick Green of the PIRATES what a guitar player! Listen to the PIRATES “OUT OF THEIR SKULLS” album for a rocking version of this song played full tilt!

Today we're looking at Power Chords and the classic JJ Cale song Cocaine. Although this is very much more in the style of the Eric Clapton version.

Sad news................"The Father of Loud" Jim Marshall, the founder of Marshall amps, died today aged 88. Slash tweeted "The news of Jim Marshall passing is deeply saddening. R & R will never be the same w/out him. But, his amps will live on FOREVER!"

I say, set up yer stack and rock heaven 'till it shakes.

That man defined the heavy rock guitar sound.

Yes it's happy birthday to Johann Sebastian Bach...born in 1685. Did he influence any great rock guitarists????
