David Bowie Riffs: Teaching Part 1

OK here’s the first part of the teaching and practice videos for Bowie Riff Medley. These include The Man Who Sold The World, Ziggy Stardust and Rebel Rebel. In the next post I’ll add in The Jean Genie and a practice session for you. I really hope you have fun learning and playing these. They actually work on both acoustic and electric guitar. Please do leave me a comment at the bottom of the page. Thanks, Andy.

Hey man, cool vid.’s and your stuff is worthy of pushing it a bit harder (somehow), good stuff A.P. and yes I do remember Wishbone Ash, the perenial opening act when concerts were more than maybe a double bill and even at that the warm-up act is usually so out of step with the headliner as to be a bit of a joke. Now how about a word to your set-up, what’s what with tone,pick-ups,etc. for you riffing on the Bowie music? I always figured that this would be a natural part of a lesson so the learner has a chance at catching the sound the original got when cutting the tune in the first place. Anyways, thankk you for the effort, it is appreciated, cheers mate, angus g.

If you have problems with the audio and video synch, it’s best to reload the site and then go back to the video again. Hope that helps. Andy

I have learned more in 10mins watching this than 10 weeks trying to learn on my own. I love your teaching style Andy, very easy to follow, thanks.

    Hi Andy,

The instructions are fine but, the audio commentary is running ahead of the video! This makes it hard to follow.

Today we're looking at Power Chords and the classic JJ Cale song Cocaine. Although this is very much more in the style of the Eric Clapton version.

Sad news................"The Father of Loud" Jim Marshall, the founder of Marshall amps, died today aged 88. Slash tweeted "The news of Jim Marshall passing is deeply saddening. R & R will never be the same w/out him. But, his amps will live on FOREVER!"

I say, set up yer stack and rock heaven 'till it shakes.

That man defined the heavy rock guitar sound.

Yes it's happy birthday to Johann Sebastian Bach...born in 1685. Did he influence any great rock guitarists????
